Seymour Daily Tribune newspaper, Seymour, IN Friday 26 September 1924; Front Page, Column 8 AGED RESIDENT HERE DIES OF INFIRMITIES ---------- Death Comes Early This Morning - Health Failing for Five Years ---------- Mrs. Charlotte Goens, aged 86 years, died suddenly at the home of her son, Thomas Goens, 524 Circle Street, this morning at 6:30 o'clock. According to the verdict of Coroner William A. Dickmeyer, who was summoned, death was the result of infirmities of old age. Five years ago Mrs. Goens suffered a slight attack of paralysis, from which she never fully recovered. For the last several months she was in a very feeble condition. This morning at 4:30 o'clock, when Mr. Goens arose, she was found to be breathing heavily. A physician was summoned but Mrs. Goens died before his arrival. Both Mr. and Mrs. Goens and a neighbor woman were at her bedside when the end came. Mrs. Goens was born in Lawrence County, January 11, 1838, the daughter of Louis and Lydia Franklin. She continued to reside in Lawrence County for thirty-five years when she and her husband moved to a farm in Jackson County. For the past five years she has made her home with her children in Seymour and this vicinity, for the last eleven months of her life she having lived with her son Thomas, on Circle Street. Eight sons and one daughter survive. They are: Thomas and Homer, Seymour; William N., Freetown; Daniel B., Louis, Franklin, and Milton, Columbus; Marshall, Medora; Theodore, Muncie, and Mrs. Nancy Jane Butler, of near Flemings. A sister, Mrs. Lydia E. Arthur, near Clearspring, and two brothers, Ezekiel and Frank, are also living. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. ---------- Seymour Daily Tribune newspaper, Seymour, IN Saturday 27 September 1924; Page 8, Column 6 NEWSY PARAGRAFS Column Funeral services for Mrs. Charlotte Goens, who died suddenly early Friday morning, will be conducted from the home of her son, Thomas Goens, 524 Circle Street, Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, with the Rev.
