She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Earnest Lee Campbell, in 1996. Read More	Charlotte Campbell Brooker - Charlotte Jane Palmer Campbell passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at home in Brooker, Florida. She was 90. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Earnest Lee Campbell, in 1996. Born in Ames, Iowa, on December 8, 1918, Mrs. Campbell relocated with her family when she was 9 years old to Mayo, Florida. By the time she reached high school age her family lived in Gainesville, Florida, where she graduated from P.K. Yonge and the University of Florida. Mrs. Campbell was in the first co-ed class in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida and became a licensed pharmacist in 1940. She and her husband Earnest (also a pharmacist) owned and operated Florida Pharmacy for many years. They were both valued preceptors for the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. Mrs. Campbell has been an active member of the community through the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, the Alachua County Pharmaceutical Auxiliary, Gainesville Altrusa Club, and Kappa Epsilon. Women of Distinction honored her in 2002 as Woman of the Year. Mrs. Campbell was an avid horse lover and raised registered paint horses. She educated her grandchildren in the love and care of horses and set an example for their experiences as equestrian showmen. She is survived by: her four children - Charles W. Campbell, Stuart A. Campbell (Cato), Margaret (Peggy) C. Shoemaker, and Ann C. Branch; her 11 grandchildren; and her 18 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Campbell will be greatly missed by her family, by her friends, and by the community at large. A viewing will take place at the Milam Funeral Home on Sunday, 4 - 6 pm. A celebration of her life is planned for 10 am on Monday, December 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Gainesville. Final arrangements are under the care of MILAM FUNERAL HOME, 311 South Main Street, Gainesville, FL (352) 376-5361.
