She was born on July 10, 1924 in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of Aubra and Verla (Grandstaff) Emmons. Jean was a 1942 graduate of Rochester High School and attended Indiana University where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. On May 5, 1944 in Rochester, Indiana, she married Lawrence C. Brown. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2005. Mrs. Brown had been a librarian for many years starting at the old Carnegie Library in Rochester and retiring from the Fulton County Public Library. She had attended the First Presbyterian Church and had been a member of Tri-Kappa Sorority and a charter member of the Associate Chapter. She was a life long gardener, having started gardening at young age. In her spare time she enjoyed being on the golf course, reading, walking, puzzles and water color painting. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Brown and husband Peter Van Dae, Rochester, Indiana, Cathy and husband Doug Grogg, Rochester, Indiana, grandchildren, Amy and husband Brian Severns, Rochester, Indiana, Karrie Shambarger, Indianapolis, Indiana, Michael and wife Tiffany Brown, Carbondale, Illinois, and three great grandchildren. Private services will be observed. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana. Zimmerman Bros Funeral Home - February 4, 2014
