EMIL HAHN CLOSES AFTER 71 years. Had been bedfast since early in year and taken to hospital at that time. Mrs. Emil F. Hahn, whose maiden name was Charlotte Ihrig, was born at Nebraska City, NE. June 10, 1874. At the age of nine years she came to Johnson with her parents. In 1899 she was united in marriage with Mr. Hahn and three children were born to this union. The Hahns lived on a farm five miles northwest of Johnson until three years ago when they retired and lived in the town of Johnson. Mrs. Hahn was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, Johnson, and was also a member of long standing of the Ladies Aid of that church. She found her greatest joy in serving others in their need. Charities and the foreign mission fields of the American Lutheran church were the departments in the church in which she was most interested. Shortly before her last illness the Hahns moved into their present home but Mrs. Hahn did not enjoy it long. She became bedfast at the turn of the year and on January 9 was taken to the Tecumseh hospital. There she passed away quietly and without struggle at 9:30 Sunday evening, February 10, 1946, at the age of 71 years and 8 months. There remain to mourn her death, her husband. one daughter, Sophia at home: two sons, Wilbur of Johnson and George of Shenandoah, IA. four grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Mother Hahn was a pious christian and on her death bed she sincerely prayed to the Lord to relieve her from all earthly woes and to take her to His Home in Heaven. Funeral services were held in her h ome and at Zion Lutheran church at Johnson on February 14, Rev. F.K. Kumpf officiating. A male quartet, composed of Rev. Kumpf, Dick Hahn, Jr. Conrad Deubler and Gerald Hahn, sang the twenty-third Psalm with Miss Eleanora Deubler at the organ. Mrs. Kumpf and Mrs. Heye Rademacher were in charge of the flowers and the large number of floral and memorial wreaths attest to the high esteem in which Mrs. Hahn was held by her friends. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Walter Kuenning, Harvey Kuenning, William Ihrig, Cecil Hahn, Arnold Hahn and Edwin D. Hahn.
