Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Mary Black Health System-Gaffney. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the Honorable Wesley L. "Buddy" Brown and daughter of the late Jasper Smith Peeler and Maggie Davis Peeler. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School and a graduate of Winthrop College where she received her undergraduate and Master's degrees. She retired as an art teacher at Gaffney High School and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of CAVA Art Guild, established the AP Art Program at Gaffney High School, a member of the Thursday Night Bridge Club and a member of First Baptist Church in Gaffney. Surviving are two sons, Wesley Lamar Brown, Jr. and wife, Susan Loy Brown, of Charleston, S.C. and Robert Meyer Brown and wife, Tiffany Diana Brown of Greenville, N.C.; a brother, David Peeler of Blacksburg, S.C.; a sister, Margaret Lonto and husband, Ben of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Michael Alexander Brown, Parker Wesley Brown and Emily Ann Brown. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ailene Peeler Clary and three brothers, Smith Peeler, Lloyd Peeler and Clyde Peeler. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Russ Bradley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church, 200 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C. 29340 or Laurens First Baptist Church, 300 W. Main Street, Laurens, S.C. 29360. The family will be at the residence, 500 S. Limestone Street, Gaffney. An online guest register is available at www.blakelyfuneralhome.com.
