Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, with Father Frank Larisey officiating. Mrs. Walter was born Dec. 29, 1927, in Fort Motte, the daughter of Louis Darby Willard and Agenora Adams Willard Von Lehe. Read More	Mrs. Charlotte Willard Walter — Orangeburg Mrs. Charlotte Willard Walter, 81, of Orangeburg, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, with Father Frank Larisey officiating. Mrs. Walter was born Dec. 29, 1927, in Fort Motte, the daughter of Louis Darby Willard and Agenora Adams Willard Von Lehe. She graduated from the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina in 1949 with an A.B. Degree in Sociology. She was a child welfare worker in Charleston after graduation and before coming to Orangeburg in 1950. She was the first social worker at the Orangeburg Attention Home for Girls. She was co-owner of Corner Crafts, Inc. for eight years and owner for seven. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer where she was president for two years and treasurer for three years of the Episcopal Church Women. She was a member and past treasurer of St. Martha's Auxiliary and past member of the Altar Guild of the Church of the Redeemer. She was a Lifetime Sustainer Member and past president of the Orangeburg Junior Service League. She was one of the first members of the Verdant Garden Club and served as past president. She was a member of the Moultrie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution where she served as past historian. She was a member of the South Carolina Historical Society and The First Families of South Carolina. She is survived by her sweetheart husband of 59 years, Eugene R. Walter Jr. of the home; two sons, Eugene R. Walter III and his wife, Peggie of Norway, and Louis W. Walter and his wife, Laura of Lexington; two daughters, Deborah Walter of Beaufort and Charlotte W. Ellard and her husband, Stan of Roswell, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one step-grandchild, three step-great-grandchildren; her brother, John Von Lehe Jr. of Mount Pleasant; a niece and four nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. At other times, friends may call at the residence.
