Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Bill L’Heureux celebrating the Mass. Interment will be at the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Krakow, with military honors by Edward H. Larson Post #144 American Legion Honor Guard. . Chester “Chet” John Urkoski was born January 1, 1947, in Genoa NE, to Edward and Anna (Czarnick) Urkoski. Chet received his education at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Parochial School in Krakow and on March 25, 1966 enlisted in to United States Army. He served in the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged on June 15, 1970. He was a lifetime resident of Genoa. Chet was a Carpenter by trade and loved building and working with his hands. He worked at Genoa Public Schools for many years and took pride in the school and the Genoa Orioles! Chet was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, served on the Church Council, and was an usher. He was a member of the American Legion Post #144 in Genoa, serving on the Honor Guard for many years. He was a member of the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department and was an EMT. Chet was very social and loved spending time with his family, he enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music especially to the Urkoski Orchestra, working on his family farm, woodworking, and taking care of his yard. Chet is survived by: Daughter: Lora (Ted) Hastreiter of Columbus, NE Son: Ryan Urkoski of Genoa, NE Grandsons: Landen and Preston Hastreiter of Columbus, NE Step-Grandson: Kaedon Hastreiter of Genoa, NE Sister: Mary Ann Boryca of Lincoln, NE Brothers: Richard (Maxine) Urkoski of North Bend, NE Bernard (Carol) Urkoski of Omaha, NE Bob Urkoski of Genoa, NE Many Nieces and Nephews Chet was preceded in death by his parents.
