Root Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Methodist Church here for Chester Clarence Root a long time resident of Hand County who died at his home in Miller on Sunday evening January 23. The Re. R. L. Rowe of Rockham was in charge. Born in Murray Iowa July 30 1893 he moved with his parents to Hand County in 1908 settling on a farm one half mile from Rockham. Root Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Methodist Church here for Chester Clarence Root a long time resident of Hand County who died at his home in Miller on Sunday evening January 23. The Re. R. L. Rowe of Rockham was in charge. Born in Murray Iowa July 30 1893 he moved with his parents to Hand County in 1908 settling on a farm one half mile from Rockham. On April 3 1917 he was married to Mae Carl and one child was born to this union. Two years ago the family moved to a farm 22 miles north of Miller and lived there until failing health compelled him to give up his farming activities. He sold his farming equipment on January 4 of this year and three weeks ago moved to Miller. He had been a member of the Woodman lodge for many years and was also a member of the Methodist Church of Rockham. He was held in high esteem by members of the communities in which he lived and was always ready to help others often at the sacrifice of his own health. He is survived by his widow and daughter Delores of Miller; his mother, three brothers and two sisters. His brothers are: Harry of Thompson Illinois Frank of Huron and Walter of Rockham. His sisters are Mrs. Ione Binger of Tulare and Mrs. Mae Irwin of Sunnyside Washington. Burial was made in the G.A.R. cemetery here.
