Owens SERVICES HELD HERE ON TUESDAY LAST , Christopher C. Owens, a former resident of this city, who for some time had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Barsie Powell, of Pocomoke, died suddenly at the home of Mrs. Powell at approximately 5:30 o'clock Sunday morning, following a paralytic stroke. The son of the late William and Susan Owens, the deceased was sixty six years of age at his death, and was one of the most esteemed residents of this section. Mr. Owens was a man of many exceptionally wonderful traits of character and was dearly loved by hundreds of warm friends whose sympathies are extended to the bereaved family in their hour of sorrow. He was of the friendly, congenial type and everywhere he went he instantly made true and lasting friends, since to know Mr. Owens was instantly to love him. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Sallie Disharoon, of Cape Charles, Mrs. Susan Ward, of Baltimore, Mrs. Barsie Powell, of Pocomoke City, Mrs. Elva Tull, of Crisfield, and Mrs. Irene Blake, of Baltimore; two sons, Christopher Owens, of Crisfield and Roy Owens, of Baltimore, and twelve grandchildren. Two brothers, Lester Owens, of Cape Charles and Clarence Owens, of Crisfield, also survive. Funeral services, which were largely attended by the many friends of the deceased, were held from the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon, with the pastor, Rev. Charles M. Elderdice, in charge of the final rites. Interment was in the Crisfield cemetery. Pall-bearers were G. E. Sheriff, William Byrd, Paul Ayres, William Gerald, Southey Sterling, and Percy Nelson. The Crisfield Times, March 21, 1941 pg.4
