Rasmussen, son of Andrew and Karen Marie Rasmussen, was born November 8, 1892, near Wisner, and passed away at Stanton, October 18, 1938, at the age of 45 years, 11 months, and 20 days. At the age of 7 he moved with his parents to a farm near here where he resided until the family moved to town in 1919. Rasmussen, son of Andrew and Karen Marie Rasmussen, was born November 8, 1892, near Wisner, and passed away at Stanton, October 18, 1938, at the age of 45 years, 11 months, and 20 days. At the age of 7 he moved with his parents to a farm near here where he resided until the family moved to town in 1919. He was united in marriage to Miss Freda Brinkley at Johnson on December 21, 1919. One daughter, Joan Eloise, was born to this union. Mr. Rasmussen was employed as cashier of the First National Bank here until he entered his country's service in the world war. At the close of the war he returned to his bank position where he remained until 1924 when he was appointed rural mail carrier. This position he efficiently filled until a few months ago when the routes were consolidated, he being transferred to route 2 out of Stanton. A few days before his tragic death he had traded jobs with a city carrier in Norfolk and had taken up his new duties. He was a faithful member of the Pilger Methodist church, the Masonic and Modern Woodman lodges, William Church post No. 69 of the American Legion and the Pilger Commercial club. In his quiet and unassuming way, Mr. Rasmussen became a steadfast friend to all who knew him. His unselfish devotion to his family made him an ideal father and companion. His greatest happiness lay in serving those dear to him. Mr. Rasmussen was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Mrs. Peter Anderson. He leaves to mourn his untimely passing his beloved wife and daughter Joan; his father, A. L. Rasmussen; 2 brothers, Albert of Norfolk and Henry; 1 sister, Mrs. E. A. Rimovsky of St. Edward besides a host of other relatives and friends. Members of the American Legion attended in a body and assisted with the last rites. The Masons had charge of the services at the grave.
