Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The Mountaineer, Big Sandy, Mont., 14 May 1925 Pioneer Citizen Answers Last Call Christian Hokanson, pioneer citizen of Chouteau county, died suddenly at his home near Warrick, Wednesday, May 6, 1925. Deceased was born in Sweden April 22, 1861. For thirty-three years Mr. Hokanson had been a resident of Chouteau county, all these years living on the same place. He was a man of unusually kind disposition, a good citizen and to know him was to honor and respect his many good qualities. Christian Hokanson attended the public schools in Sweden in his youth. After leaving school he served nine months as a cadet in the Swedish navy and in 1879 he determined to seek his fortune in America. After arriving in the port of New York, he came to Iowa, where he remained one year and then made his way to San Francisco, Calif., where he held a clerkship in the Palace hotel, continuing his residence in California for five years, where he gained a large circle of friends. In 1885 he came to Montana and accepted a position of clerk in the International hotel at Helena, where he remained one year, after which he was identified with the hotel business in White Sulphur Springs, and also with the ranching industry. In the spring of 1892 Mr. Hokanson came to Chouteau county and located on the ranch where he has since made his home acquiring land under his homestead right, since which time he had acquired land holdings of about 3,000 acres. Since coming to Chouteau county Mr. Hokanson has been extensively engaged in the sheep and cattle business. On Jan. 16, 1888, at White Sulphur Springs, Mr. Hokanson was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Osterman, who survives him. To this union were born seven children: Mrs. John Norden, Nels Hokanson, Mrs. W. G. Lovinger of Utica, Mont, Mrs. D. M. Mikkelson of Warrick, Mrs. T. H. Murray of Warrick, Miss Bertha Hokanson. One child, Albert, died in infancy.
