Mr. Evenson was born in South Salem township on March 27, 1871. being the only surviving child of Mr. and Mrs. Neary Evenson, pioneer residents of Greenwoood county. Mr. Evenson was born in South Salem township on March 27, 1871. being the only surviving child of Mr. and Mrs. Neary Evenson, pioneer residents of Greenwoood county. His four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He was bapitized in infancy in the Lutheran church and lived a christian life until the end came. The Upper Fall River community remaining his home throughout the 77 years of his life. June 26, 1901, he was united in marriage to Lena Erickson, a resident of the Ivanpah community, who survives him. To this union were born ten children, six daughters and four sons; Mrs. Lida Moreland, of Lyons; Mrs. Jenny Louise Turner of Valley Center; Mrs. Louise Hamby of Bushton; Mrs. Fern Wernli of Gridley; Mrs, Ora Stovall and Miss Leona Evenson of Wichita; Mr. Leonard Evenson of Lost Springs; Charles, Otis and Oscar Evenson of Eureka; These together with seventeen grandchildren and many friends mourn the passing of Mr. Evenson. In March he suffered a heart attack. Patient and cheerful he desired nothing more that to be up and around each day and to enjoy visiting with neighbors and friends, a privilege he enjoyed almost to the end. Mr. Evenson was a loving husband and father, a hard morking man, seeking the true interest of family and friends, sharing his joys and sorrows at all times with them. One of his most cherished memories was Kansas when it was young and nearly untouched ny the hands of man, and then to see the wilderness though having a beauty all its own, turned into a paradice, his own hands having a part in the transformation. During the years to him returned often these words, "This is my own, my native land". A land made better because he lived in it. Funeral services were held at the Baird Funeral Home last Saturday, June 26. Pastor Edward Jordahl conducted the services.
