PERSIA CABINET MAKER DIES AT 88 PERSIA, Ia., - Christian Ulfers, 88, pioneer carpenter and cabinet maker, died of the infirmities attendant to old age Thursday at the Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs, after a four weeks’ illness. PERSIA CABINET MAKER DIES AT 88 PERSIA, Ia., - Christian Ulfers, 88, pioneer carpenter and cabinet maker, died of the infirmities attendant to old age Thursday at the Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs, after a four weeks’ illness. In 1898 he came to Harrison county, where he had resided since. In recent years he made his home with his children. Mrs. Ulfers died in 1903 and a daughter, Mrs. Gretchen Moore, also preceded him in death. Surviving him are four sons, Martin of Beverly Hills, Calif., Adolph of Omaha, and Harve and Julius of Persia; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Lee of Dunlap, Ia., and Mrs. Tina Graham of Sioux City, Ia. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the L.D.S. church in Persia. Burial will be in Valley View cemetery. Council Bluffs Nonpareil: 23 Sep 1938
