Description	:	Chris Markusch, one of the early settlers in this county, and who had made his home lately with his daughter, Mrs William Mehlisch, south west of St Anthony, was found dead in a water tank on the farm at 5 o'clock last Thursday afternoon by Mrs Chris Schmellick, a neighbor. Read More	Chris Markusch, one of the early settlers in this county, and who had made his home lately with his daughter, Mrs William Mehlisch, south west of St Anthony, was found dead in a water tank on the farm at 5 o'clock last Thursday afternoon by Mrs Chris Schmellick, a neighbor. The body was lying face down in about one foot of water. Death was due to heart failure. It is believed that Mr Markusch had been dead about half an hour when his body was found. He was alone at home at the time. Mrs Schmellick came for a neighborly call and when she passed the water tank noticed something strange in it. She was horrified to find that it was her neighbor's body. The coroner was called and after investigating the case concluded that Mr Markusch had been a victim of heart disease and had fallen into the tank. He said that the man could not have been dead more than thirty minutes when his body was found. Mr Markusch is survived by five children. Besides the daughter with whom he resided, they are Mrs W H Hennis, who lives north of State Center; William and Charles Markusch of St Anthony and Fred Markusch of St Paul, Minnesota. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the French Grove Lutheran church by the pastor, Rev A J Boehm. Interment was made in the church yard. August 10, 1911 State Center Enterprise.
