Springer, son of Nicholos and Kathryn Springer, was born Oct. 28, 1863, in Gridley, Illinois, and passed away at his home in Milford, Nebr., on Oct. 30, 1952, at the age of 89 years and 3 days. He was united in marriage to Madgelina Dierberger in the year 1885 and following his marriage he, with his wife and parents, moved to a farm six miles southwest of Seward. To this union were born 5 children: Kathryn, Ella, Lydia, William, and Jessie. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the Defenseless Mennonite Church. In later life he transferred his membership to the United Missionary Church of Milford. He retired from the farm in 1915 and moved to Milford, where he resided until his death. His wife passed away on June 3, 1922, and on May 8, 1923, he was united in marriage to Lena Reck of Milford. He was preceded in death by three children, Kathryn, Mrs. Silas Miller, Lydia, Mrs. George Sonday, and Jessie, who died at the age of three. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Lena, one daughter, Mrs. George Sonday of Seward; one son, William, of Lincoln; 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 2, at 2:00 p. m., in the United Missionary Church, Rev. Charles F. Gray officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Those attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dierberger, Goehner; Mrs. Myrtle Scherzberg, Mrs. John Dierberger and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dierberger, of Burwell; Orville Dierberger and Mrs. Noah Thompson of North Loup; Miss Emma Dierberger, Sargent; Richard Reck and Mrs. Dorothy Clement of Scotia; Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Miller of Wymore; Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Dierberger, Utica; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Miller, Crete; Mrs. Lydia Beery, Clarinda, Ia.; Miss Mabel Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Silas Miller, Jr., of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Erb, Mrs. Zimmerman and Mrs. Chris Springer of Aurora.
