Read More	Chris Stickrod passed away at 9:30 o'clock Friday evening, July 26, in the International Health resort at Chicago where he had been for treatment since June 11. He had seemed to be getting along well and was expecting to be able to come home soon, but was taken worse and on Thursday of last week his wife and mother were notified of his condition and left on the evening train and were with him to the last. They arrived here Sunday morning on the early train, bringing the remains of their loved one, and the funeral was held at the Presbyterian church on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. D.E. Bosma, pastor of the Reformed church delivered the funeral discourse. The decedent was an honored member of the Odd Fellows lodge and the members of that order attended the funeral in a body, and following the sermon took charge of the services, conducting ritualistic work at the church and at the grave. The pall bearers were chosen from the fraternity and those who served were: Will McCorkindale, Gust Salstrom, Rae Morgan, George Mandernach, John Caine and Jacob Varner. Christian Stickrod was born on October 30, 1888, and was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Stueckrath. He grew to maturity in this vicinity and on October 29, 1912, was married to Miss Stella B. Manning, who with three children - Helen, aged five years; Bernice, aged two years; and Wesley, aged four months, survive. Chris was employed at Fairview farm for a number of years, but shortly after his marriage, in partnership with Gust Salstrom, he purchased a restaurant (The Boys Place) and assisted in the management of the place until failing health compelled him to sell his interest, which he did only a few weeks before he went to Chicago. As a mark of respect to one who had so recently been a business man, all places of business were closed during the hours of the funeral. Several years ago Chris was seriously afflicted with rheumatism and went to Hot Springs for treatment and for a number of years following enjoyed fair health. In August 1917, he was taken with heart trouble, and although every thing possible was done for him, the disease did not respond to treatment. He was a young man who was well like by his fellowmen and enjoyed the respect and good will of all with whom he came in contact. He leaves besides the wife and children, his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Stueckrath, two brothers - Frederick and Henry, and three sisters - Mary (Mrs. J.R. McGonigle), Louise and Anna, all of Odebolt. The bereaved family and relatives have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. Relatives present from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Chris Stueckrath of Randolph, Nebr., and Mr. and Mrs. J.C.
