Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Church of the Brethren northwest of Adel and were in charge of Rev. L.A. Walker and Rev. O.F. Shaw. Musical numbers were given by Virgil Marshall, with Mrs. Olive Wilcox as accompanist. Casket bearers were Clayton Royer, Lee Myers, Lorenzo Royer, Carl Myers, Alton Royer and Bert Myers. Burial was in the Brethren cemetery. Obituary: Christianna Myers, daughter of Isaac and Sarah Myers, was born February 9, 1864, in Jo Davis County, Illinois. She came to Iowa with her parents in March, 1876, and settled on the farm 1 mile south of Panther Store. Early in life she united with the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren and remained faithful to the last. On January 10, 1889, she was married to Frank C. Wicks and to this union were born five children, Clarence, Roy, Verdie, Marie and Ada. The family circle was broken January 23, 1927, when their son Roy passed away. Mrs. Wicks had been afflicted with heart trouble and complications for several years, but was confined to her bed only eleven days, and peacefully passed away at 11:30 July 6, 1944 at her home in Adel. She was the last one of the family of eleven children. In passing she leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, 4 children, Clarence Wicks, Mrs. Verdie Poffenberger, Mrs. Marie Pollock, and Ada Wicks, all of Adel, 17 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
