Description	:	On Monday morning, February 26, 1883, at the home of her son, Jacob Masden, east of Salem, Iowa, Mrs. Christina Masden died. She was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on March 11, 1802. Her parents soon after removed to Center County. She was married to William Masden December 25, 1821. She was the mother of nine children, of whom all but one are living. The family moved to Iowa in 1847. In 1857 her husband died. Read More	On Monday morning, February 26, 1883, at the home of her son, Jacob Masden, east of Salem, Iowa, Mrs. Christina Masden died. She was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on March 11, 1802. Her parents soon after removed to Center County. She was married to William Masden December 25, 1821. She was the mother of nine children, of whom all but one are living. The family moved to Iowa in 1847. In 1857 her husband died. About thirty years ago she embraced the Christian faith, and became a member of the M. E. Church, and the consistency of her profession was shown in the calmness with which she waited for and the final summons, leaving that testimony that "all is well." The death of the pure in heart, while impoverishing earth, enriches heaven. Their good deeds ascend before God like holy incense, permeating and sanctifying society. This is especially true of those who have lived blamelessly long and beautifully personified "Mothers in Israel." Few are permitted to dwell on the earth until they have reached the "four score" years, but life sometimes lengthened to illustrate the beauty of a true life in old age, and furnish a type of the perfection that may lie attained in this life, before they are transplanted to the bliss of heaven. She was genial and affable to the last, and gradually the noble structure of the physical yielded to the touch of time, and then in helplessness she lay on her couch for the "coming of the Lord." Under the inspiring watch care of her son and family, she lingered for some time on the edge of Jordan, waiting for the dip of the golden oar.
