Read More	Tabitha Kester Funeral at Salem Services Wednesday Afternoon At Home of Daughter Mrs. Johnson Funeral services for Mrs. Tabitha Kester, who passed away early on Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Johnson were held at the daughter's home Wednesday at 2 p. m. and the home was filled with sorrowing friends for the services. The services were in charge of the Rev. G. L. Stanley of the Friends church, who selected his text from Acts 27:29. Rev. Stanley was assisted by the Rev. G. C. Pennington of the Methodist church who read the scripture lesson and offered prayer. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Smith sang the two songs, "Shall We Gather at the River" and "Lead Kindly Light". Following the services at the home the remains were laid to rest in east cemetery with friends of the family, the pall bearers as follows: John Frim, Harlan Almond, Mel McVey, Lwellyn Pierce, W. A. Thompson and L. L. DeLong. Tabitha Kester, daughter of Wm. and Christina Masden was born in Center county, Pa. Jan. 10, 1838, and passed away at Salem Feb. 6, 1933, age 95 years and 28 days. When she was about 10 years of age she came with her fathers family, which consisted of father, mother, six brothers and one sister, tr Iowa and located on a farm near Salem where she grew to womanhood. In 1858 she was married to John A. Persinger and to this union were born two children, Clara Fulton of Burlington and John Persinger of Bonaparte, the husband and father passing away Dec. 10, 1863. On Feb 19, 1873, she was again married and to this union were born three children: Howard H., who passed away in infancy, Mattie Weaver of Waterloo and Mabel Johnson of Salem, who so tenderly cared for her mother during her declining years, and was confined to her bed being entirely helpless for almost two years, and often expressed her desire to go home and be at rest. Mr. aand Mrs. J. W. Persinger of Bonaparte and Mrs. W. H. Weaver of Waterloo attended the funeral services of their mother.
