She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Ev. Luth. church at Wardenburg, Germany. At the age of 19 she left Germany for America and lived for some time with her uncle in Bennington, Nebraska. On May 28, 1914 she was married to Mr. John F. Koch, of Concord, Nebraska. Koch, Christina Anna (nee Schmidt) was born October 26, 1892 in Achterholdt, Oldenburg, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Ev. Luth. church at Wardenburg, Germany. At the age of 19 she left Germany for America and lived for some time with her uncle in Bennington, Nebraska. On May 28, 1914 she was married to Mr. John F. Koch, of Concord, Nebraska. God blessed this union with thirteen children, five of whom preceded their mother to eternal rest. Her sudden departure is mourned by her husband, eight children: Martin, Martha, Marie, Laura, Hildegard, Edna, Adela and a five days old son, who was baptized in the home a few moments before his mother's funeral took place; her father still living in Germany; three sisters, one in Germany and two in the United States, Mrs. Gesine Duvenhorst, of Chicago, Illinois, and Mrs. Anna Daniels, of Leigh, Nebraska; one brother in Germany; three uncles, Herman, Henry and John Schmidt and many other dear relatives and friends. Mrs. John Koch died at the age of 42 years, 6 months, and 21 days. Her death occurred in the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, about 4 o'clock Tuesday morning, May 21, 1935. Funeral services were held in the St. Paul's Ev. Luth. church on May 24 by Rev. G. T. Kern who spoke words of comfort to the mourners in English on Romans 8:38-39 and in German on Hosea 6:1. Interment was made in the St. Paul's Ev. Luth. cemetery. Pall bearers were Geo. Leutje, John Swanson, Herman Kremer, Fred Matthies, R. Swanson and Henry Stalling. Flower girls were Misses Regina Stalling, Verna Kraemer, Gladys Stolle and Lillie Swanson. May those who mourn her death be comforted with the assurance expressed in the words of Gen. 48:21: "Behold I die, but God shall be with you" and also heed the Saviour's words: "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give unto you the crown of Eternal Life." ------------------------------------------------ Son born day before her death was named Helmut.
