Her last illness covered a period of 10 weeks. The deceased was Christie Richie Stewart before marriage and she was born August 8,1838, in Scotland. Her last illness covered a period of 10 weeks. The deceased was Christie Richie Stewart before marriage and she was born August 8,1838, in Scotland. In 1851 she, with her grandparents, sailed for the United States and landed in New Orleans. They took a steamboat passage up the Missouri river to Kansas City, where they joined a company of Mormons and crossed the plains with ox teams, arriving in Salt Lake City October 24, 1854. She was married to George H. Gee in 1856. With her husband she lived at Wellsville, Utah, six years, going from there to Malad, Idaho, with ox teams. It was while at Malad that Mrs. Gee met with the experience that turned her hair white in one night. The result of a terrible fright from an Indian attack. From Idaho they came to Deer Lodge valley. They next joined the stampede to Lincoln gulch, where gold was struck in 1869. In 1876 they came to Gallatin valley, which since has been her home. Her husband died in 1887. Mrs. Gee was the mother of 12 children, 10 of whom are living. They are George H. of Belgrade, Noah of Dillon, James S. and Hugo J. of Belgrade, Mrs. Arch Martin and Tom Gee of Belgrade, Sam Gee, whereabouts unknown, Ralph of Nof, Idaho, Mrs. Clyde Penwell of Moscow, Idaho, and Mrs. Will Salisbury of Montana. She leaves 48 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gee was a remarkable character, an example of sturdy womanhood.
