Description	:	Christina was of German heritage, born to Johann Samuel Walther/Walter & Rosina Weippert. She was born and educated in KLOESTITZ (Klöstitz), Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia (which is currently Vesela Dolyna, Odes'ka, Ukraine) Left Russia end of 1902 - note: Gottlieb Wegner immigrated w/wife & children to ND, landed in St.John, NF, Canada Jan 21, 1903 on ship SS Lake Champlain (transcription of the ship manifest indicates landing in Newfoundland - but should it possibly be NB ?New Brunswick) The family then crossed into North Dakota at Pembina. Some of the children had to stay behind in Canada for a short time - likely due to eye infection. (Verified via handwritten copy of ship manifest and typed copy of St. Alban's List-Canadian Entry and Crossing- Germans from Russia Extraction) -------------------- Christina Walter was born in Kloestitz, Russia on May 8, 1858, the daughter of Johann Samuel Walter (b. 19 Aug 1834 d. 9 May 1917) and Rosina Weippert (b. 20 Nov 1834 d. 8 Feb 1904) On Nov. 21, 1880, Gottlieb Wegner and Christina Walter were married in the Evangelical church in Kloestitz, Bessarabia, Russia. After 22 years of marriage and the birth of ten children (possibly more), Christina and her husband immigrated to the U.S. and settled in North Dakota, first in McLean Co., then Mercer Co. After the death of Gottlieb in 1933, Christina continued living with her son David and his family on the farm near Dodge, ND until moving to a nursing home in 1945 in Bismarck where she died in 1950 at the age of 92. --------------------- (see link to Gottlieb's memorial page for more details on their children) 1.
