Mrs. Stenerson, a resident of Sioux Falls since 1904, died Sunday. The Rev. A.M. Mannes officiated with Mrs. Rollie Giedd as organist and Mrs. Ray Van Ells as soloist. Interment was made in the Hills of Rest Memorial park. Norman and Orvill Moe, Kenneth, Eugene and Clifford Spielman and Kenneth Christopherson were pallbearers. NOTE: Christine Stenerson was born Kjersti Olsdatter Almaas or Almaasoyen. (Allow for variations in spelling) I have found her Norwegian birth/christening record, confirmation record, marriage record, ship passenger record (1904) and she is found on the 1905 SD State Census living in Toronto, SD, with her family under the surname Hugas (allow for variations in spelling). (The 1905 SD Census record can be found through familysearch.org) I also have the Singsasboka (Farm History Book for the Singsas, Sor-Trondelag, Norway) that list her lineage, the lineage for her first husband and the lineage for the father of her oldest son, Martin. She moved to Sioux Falls sometime between 1905-10. Her first husband, Kristoffer Kristofferson Hugaas, died in 1907 and is buried at the Minnehaha County (SD) Poor Farm. I have not yet confirmed if he was an inmate at the farm or just buried in the cemetery. Her second marriage was to Charles or Charlie Stenerson who died in 1926. She had one child, Martin, out of wedlock. This was common in rural Norway and happened prior to her first married. The father of Martin is Hans Hansen Hinsverk who married another woman, immigrated to America and eventually settled in Gary, Deuel County, SD.
