Read More	Christine Weidman, 55, died Monday, April 2, 2018 in Manhattan, Kansas. Christine Jo Weidman was born October 3, 1962 in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence, Jr. and Peggy Weidman. She attended the Presbyterian Church pre-school as a small girl. She also lived in the Parsons State Hospital from 1970 – 1980. In 1980, she moved to Manhattan and worked at Big Lakes Developmental Center. Over the years, she resided in several group homes in Manhattan, and was currently living in the Butternut House. She enjoyed her many years at Big Lakes and had many special friends there. Chris was a member of the Hayes Methodist Church until 2005, when it closed. She then transferred her membership to the Clay Center United Methodist Church. Chris was a happy and loving person and loved to go anywhere in the car. She was always very close to her family and enjoyed frequent visits to Clay Center to attend family functions and community events. Growing up, she seldom missed band concerts or vocal music programs of her sisters, as well as their softball games. Other favorite activities included parades, circuses and rodeos and she especially enjoyed attending the Piotique Parade, as well as the Clay County and Longford rodeos. She was an avid Tiger fan and loved listening to the music at the ball games. She loved animals of all kinds, but her greatest love was for horses. From the time she was a tiny girl, she loved being around horses and had a special horse named Smokey while growing up on the farm. This love of horses continued through the years and her favorite activity when coming to Clay Center, was to ride around and visit all the horses, making friends with them by feeding them apple treats. She will be greatly missed, but not forgotten, by her family and friends. Survivors include two sisters, Cathy Hafner and husband Randy, and Deb Martin, both of Clay Center. She also had three nieces and three nephews, and 13 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jr. and Peg, brother-in-law, Doug Martin and nephew, Grant Hafner. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Clay Center United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ryan Lynch and Herb Mugler officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery
