Christine Stoltenberg was born on March 10, 1862, near Davenport, Iowa, and was called to her reward December 9th, 1937, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 29 days. She spent her early years at the place of her birth near Davenport, Iowa, where she received her schooling and grew to womanhood. October 29, 1885, she was united in marriage to Jacob Lafrenz of Davenport, Iowa. They went to housekeeping on a farm in Scott county, where they lived six years, moving from there to a farm northwest of Tipton, in Cedar county, and lived there until their retirement in 1912, when they moved to Tipton. She is survived by her beloved husband; two sons, William and Jacob, Jr. and his wife, Emma Lafrenz of Clarence, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Stoltenberg of Tipton and Mrs. Minnie Wunder of Manning, Iowa; two brothers, William Stoltenberg and Peter Stoltenberg of Davenport; and a host of friends and neighbors join her loved ones in their hour of loss. She was a loving wife and Mother, always ready to lend a willing hand in case of sickness. she followed the doctrines of the Lutheran church.
