The Osceola Tribune, Osceola, Iowa December 23 19 Page 3 Christopher Clare Perdue, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Perdue was born near Woodburn, Iowa, Clarke county, on October 26, 1893, and he met his death by accident in Cleveland, Ohio, Dec. 10th, 1941. He was 45 years, 1 month and 15 days of age at the time of death. He was the eldest child of a family of seven children. One brother having preceded him in death at the tender age of 1 year and 11 months, and Charley who passed away 4 years ago. Those who are left to mourn his untimely passing reads as follows: Mrs. Daisy Blair of Ames; Mrs. Murl Blair, Ankeny, Mrs. Ina Page, Leon, and one only surviving brother, Glen, of Cummings. His mother passed away when Chris was but 16 years of age. He was a very loyal son to his mother, also to his father and the other children. His father, J. W. Perdue, who is in very poor health, resides near Ames with his daughters, Mrs. Daisy Blair and Mrs. Murl Blair. He also leaves other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his untimely passing. Chris, as he was called, served his country in the 1st World War, being a World War veteran. Nothing ever seemed too bard for him to undertake when the time came to do for others. Always showing forth a brave and courageous spirit. The past several years he has made his home in Cleveland, Ohio, therefore he will be missed by his loved ones. A military funeral was held from the Bethel Chapel church Wednesday, Dec. 17 with Rev. R. C. Prube of Cummings, Ia. officiating and interment was made in the Bethel Chapel cemetery. Pall bearers were Floyd Newman, Floyd McQuern, Floyd Jones, Ross See, Rolla Glenn and Harry Funston, all American Legion men. There were tones that now are silent There were smiles of Joy and mirth; There were sounds of welcoming footsteps, That have passed away from earth. Oh, Chris dearest, you have left us, And our hearts with grief are sore, But we'll meet again in heaven, Never to be parted more. Card of Thanks To all the friends whose sympathy and assistance was extended to us during this sad part in our lives following the departure of our beloved son and brother, we desire to extend our sincere thanks.
