Description	:	Christopher Koepp was born in Rogasen, Posen Province, Germany, April 27, 1837, and died in Home City, August 12, 1916, aged 79 years, 3 months and 15 days. Mr. Koepp was married to Miss Justine Dregen (sic) in May, 1865, and five years later came to the United States, locating in Cook county, Ill., on land which is now incorporated in the city of Chicago. Read More	Christopher Koepp was born in Rogasen, Posen Province, Germany, April 27, 1837, and died in Home City, August 12, 1916, aged 79 years, 3 months and 15 days. Mr. Koepp was married to Miss Justine Dregen (sic) in May, 1865, and five years later came to the United States, locating in Cook county, Ill., on land which is now incorporated in the city of Chicago. He saw at that time that there was more opportunity in the west, and after getting a start in the farming industry there, came to Kansas in 1875, locating on a farm in Center township, about five miles south of Home City, where he engaged in farming and lived there until nine years ago, when he moved to Home City, where he died. Mr. Koepp is survived by his wife and eight children. Two of his children died in infancy. His living children are: Otila, Mrs. Chas. Krause of near Marysville; Amelia, Mrs. Chas. Schwarz of Home City; Mary, Mrs. Robt. Schwarz of Marysville; Emma, Mrs. W. H. Arnast of Home City; and H.W., C. W., L. C., and Fred W., who reside on farms near Home City. Funeral services were held by his pastor, Rev. H. L. Lenser, at the Lutheran church in Home City, Monday, and interment was made in the Marysville cemetery. The pallbearers were: Paul Ludicke, Robt. J. Lewis. M. M. Schmidt, George Kraus, John Toedter and Herman Neumann. Mr. Koepp was of that sturdy German stock that has made so many useful and honorable citizens for this country. Reared in poverty, with no further training than honesty and willing hands, he was one of those pioneers who helped make Kansas a great state. Such men have made the credit of Kansas good; they have make our real estate first class security. They were honest and frugal and succeeded in accumulating a competency. They broke out the raw prairies and made them yield their harvest; they built homes and school houses; they planted orchards and built roads, and made the state good to live in. From a raw and undeveloped wilderness they have made a highly civilized community. He was reared in the Lutheran church in the Fatherland and continued in that faith until the end. He was very simple and plain in all his ways and manners, never ostentatious. He was the same to all men and always the same. Changeableness (sic) was not one of his characteristics. He lived more than the allotted time of three score years and ten. By reason of his strength his years numbered.
