Read More	Lucinda Mary Swan wed 09 Feb 1898 Charles Morton McCoy in Taylor Co, Ia obituary CLARINDA HERALD-JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, May 2, 1938 Mrs Chas McCoy of southeast of Villisca, for 60 years a resident of the North Grove community, died at 6:20 pm Friday evening in the Clarkson hospital in Omaha where she had been 9 days after an operation for hernia. Her death resulted from a heart attack. Mrs McCoy was improving satisfactorily after her operation and had expected to return to her home the first of this week when late Friday afternoon she had two attacks about an hour apart, the latter of which she did not survive. The body was brought here to the Wolfe funeral chapel where it remained until Saturday evening when it was taken to the McCoy home. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 pm at Mrs McCoy's home, conducted by the Rev W.F. Clayburg of Villisca and assisted by the Rev E.B. Stewart of Nodaway. The music was by the Valley quartet composed of B.O. Negley, Paul Negley, Forrest Winn and Cleve Pendergraft, all of Hepburn, and the pallbearers were Ralph Andrew, T.O. McCoy, Ray McCoy, Ralph McCoy, Guy McCoy and Doran Swan. The flower bearers were Mrs John Dunn, Mrs Lee Means, Mrs Fredrick Fisher and Mrs Max Gourley, and burial was in the North Grove cemetery. Mary Lucinda Swan, 62, was born May 2, 1875, in Green county, Penn, daughter of Mr and Mrs W.H. Swan, and came to Iowa with them when a small child. They settled in the North Grove community which was Mrs McCoy's home at the time of her death. Her mother died Oct 15, 1934. She was married to Chas. McCoy, Feb 9, 1898, and about 2 years after their marriage they moved to the present McCoy home. Mrs McCoy leaves her husband and father and one son Johnie of the North Grove community, another son Dan, Hawleyville; her daughter, Mrs Judd Means, Villisca, a sister, Mrs Albert Orme, Nodaway; and a brother, John Swan, Villisca. She united with the North Grove Methodist church when a small child and was a member there at the time of her death. Among those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr and Mrs H.C. McCoy and children, Donald and Alva, Conway, Iowa; Mr and Mrs Ray Stamps, Lenox; Vera Payton, Clarinda; Mr and Mrs Doran Swan, Red Oak; and Charley Reynolds, Morrison, Colo.
