The parents of a 43 - year old woman killed Friday in a wreck involving a Brighton police cruiser hope authorities will install a stoplight at the deadly intersection. Cindy Lee Flock died when a friend's Ford Thunderbird collided with a K-9 officer's car at East 120th Avenue and U.S, 85. Flock, who was not wearing a seat belt , was thrown from the front passengers seat, said her mother, Norma Smith. The driver of the Thunderbird, Austin Brown, 31, of Denver, was seriously injured and remained hospitalized at Denver Health Medical Center on Sunday. The officer, 26-year old Chris Lothrop, and his police dog sustained minor injuries. Commerece City investigators were trying to determine how the accident happened, but witnesses said the intersection is the site of frequent wrecks. "I'm at a loss," Flock's father, Gerald Flock of Burlington, said Sunday. "We all have concerns about what happened ... (But) they definitely need a stoplight there." Smith, who traveled from Mesa Ariz,, Sunday after hearing of her daughter's death, said she plans to visit the crash site to determine whether improvements are needed. Brighton police said they do not beleive the officer was responding to a call when the accident happened . Brown was turning onto U.S. 85, Flock's family said. The officer was headed south on highway. Police are still determing which driver was at fault. Flock, who has two sons, 22 and 24, moved to Denver from Burlington a week ago to live closer to her older son, Smith said. She was staying with Brown and looking for a job as a cashier or waitress.
