Description	:	Relatives here received the sad news of the death of Clair Searls at his home in Brookings, S. D., last evening (Wednesday) at 6:45 o'clock, after a three weeks' illness of pneumonia aged about 44 years, He was the eldest son of C. A Searls, now of San Jose, Calif., and was born on a farm of Akron. He has held the position of chief engineer of the city light plant at Brookings. Mr. Searls was a nephew of Gilbert and Howard Searls, Mrs. B. A. Adams and H. W. Sargent, of this vicinity. Searls at Brookings, S. D. The following obituary appeared in the Brookings Register: Clair Herbert Searls was born at Akron, Iowa, on September 22, 1888, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Searls, in which vicinity he resided until his death. He was united in marriage to Sadie L. Larson on November 7, 1912. They farmed near Brookings until the spring of 1922, when they moved into Brookings and Searls took employment at the city light and power plant. Mr. Searls passed away on the evening of June 7, 1933, at the age of 44 years, 8 months, and 11 days, following an illness of about three weeks. He survived by his wife and three sons, Dale, Royal and Robert; his father, C. A. Searls, of San Jose, Calif.; six brothers and one sister. Edgar, Roscoe, Burdette, Harry and Lillian of Brookings; Paul, of Devil's Lake, N. D., and Donald, of Washington, District of Columbia. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon from the Methodist church, with interment in Greenwood cemetery. Rev. O. D. Jackson conducted the services.
