She passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield, Iowa, at the age of 95. Clara was born in Charter Oak, Iowa. She received her education in the Charter Oak Community Schools graduating with the class of 1934. Gollhofer on May 14, 1945, and to this... Read More	Clara Alvena Gollhofer was born September 3, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Bertha Anderson Bebensee. She passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield, Iowa, at the age of 95. Clara was born in Charter Oak, Iowa. She received her education in the Charter Oak Community Schools graduating with the class of 1934. Clara completed Normal School Training and taught country school for three years and then worked as a bookkeeper at a downtown store in Charter Oak. Clara was united in marriage to Charles A. Gollhofer on May 14, 1945, and to this union was born one daughter. She stayed home while raising her daughter and then assisted her husband operating the family owned drugstore until his death. Clara enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time she liked to read, embroider, do crossword puzzles, play games, and watch birds. Clara was a member of Royal Neighbors of America and the United Methodist Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leo and Fred, and two sisters, Edna and Doris. Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer and her husband, John; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Earl; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. Pastor Gary Fridley officiated the service and graveside rites held at the Charter Oak Cemetery in Charter Oak. Organist Marjorie Neddermeyer provided accompaniment for congregational songs, "Just As I Am Without One Plea," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God." Serving as Pallbearers were Stan Gollhofer, Dennis Huebner, Loren Strait, Bob Henderson, Chris Rode, and Jason Freiberg. The family invited everyone to return to the church for fellowship and lunch provided by Staleys and the Methodist Women. The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of arrangements
