Description	:	CLARA AMELIA SCHILKE Clara Amelia Schilke was born to Diedrich Oelkers and Amelia Mittlestaedt Oelkers on April 22, 1894, at Clyde, Kansas, and passed away April 2, 1990 at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital in Fairbury, Nebraska, after a short illness, at the age of 95 years, 11 months, and 11 days. She was one of seven children in the family. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at an early age in Ames, Kansas, where she also attended school and was raised on a farm. Read More	CLARA AMELIA SCHILKE Clara Amelia Schilke was born to Diedrich Oelkers and Amelia Mittlestaedt Oelkers on April 22, 1894, at Clyde, Kansas, and passed away April 2, 1990 at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital in Fairbury, Nebraska, after a short illness, at the age of 95 years, 11 months, and 11 days. She was one of seven children in the family. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at an early age in Ames, Kansas, where she also attended school and was raised on a farm. Clara was united in marriage to Delbert McAdams on February 7, 1912. This union was blessed with three children: Naomi, Rex, and Melba. The family lived on a farm near Clyde, Kansas. Delbert passed away in December, 1922. Clara continued to live on the farm until she moved to Wymore, Nebraska in 1925, where she worked in a bank. In 1930, she moved to Tobias, Nebraska, where she was the telephone operator. On October 26, 1932, she was married to Gus Schilke. The union was blessed with one child, Jacquelyn. They lived on farms near Daykin, Harbine, and Tobias. The family moved to Tobias in 1947, where they operated a blacksmith shop and café. Gus died in February of 1960 and Clara continued to live in Tobias until her death. Preceding her in death were her husbands, parents, four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her children: son Rex McAdams; daughters, Naomi Bundy; Melba Mayo and husband Les; and Jacquelyn Niederklein and husband Myron. Clara is survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two step-sons: Robert Schilke and Merlyn Schilke and their families; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of friends. Clara was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ohiowa at the time of her death. At one time, she was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge and the Legion Auxiliary. source: funeral memorial folder.
