While the shock was not unexpected to her family because of her long and serious illness, yet they will miss her loving presence. Four years ago, Mrs. Walter suffered a stroke of paralysis and since that time has not been strong, but improved steadily until five months ago when she had a second stroke. She has lingered during this time with some signs of improvement. A short time ago she wished to go to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lydia Hargan and seemed to improve rapidly under the changed surrounding until a short time before her death. Clara Belle Harvey, daughter of James and Lydia Harvey was born on a farm west of Brooks, Spetember 4, 1871. On March 19, 1893, she was married to F. F. Walter and as a bride she came to the vicinity which was her home at the time of her death. When a girl only 15 years of age, she united with the Christian Church at Brooks and retained her membership here until the church ceased to exist. At that time she united with the Presbyterian Church at Mt. Zion and has been a most loyal worker in the Aid Society and in other departments of the church as long as health permitted. She was 65 years, 10 months, and 15 days old. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Walter, Ivan, a son dying in infancy. The living children who with the father survive are, Mrs. Lydia Hargan, Hilman, and James Walter. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister. these are Hillman Harvey of Chicago, Herman Harvey of Clay Center, Kansasw, Rev. T. F. Harvey, Atlanta, Georgia, Corrie Harvey, Brooks, Mrs. Addie McIntyre, Compton, California. Mrs. Walters mother died when she was three years old and she was reared by a stepmother. Thirty three years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Walter moved on the farm which was her home at the time of Mrs. Walter's death. Mrs. Walter was a loving mother, a kind helpful neighbor. Her cheerful disposition will be missed in the home and neighborhood. In her youth she taught in the Brooks schools and in rural schools in the neighborhood in which she resided. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, July 31, at Mt. Zion Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Silas Overbulser of Woodbine in charge with interment in the Methodist Grove Cemetery.
