Mrs. Howes was born September 22, 1912 in San Pedro, CA to Captain Phineas Banning and Georgia Maria (Gilkey) Blanchard. She is survived by her husband, William Frederic Howes to whom she was married on June 26, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY. She is also survived by her sons: William, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and Banning of Brewster, NY; his wife, Lynn; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Anne Jacobus of Mansfield, TX. She was an active member of the Bryn Mawr Park Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. A Funeral Service will be held at the FLYNN MEMORIAL HOME, 1652 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers at 2 pm on Sunday. Interment will be at the Gordon Cemetery in Searsport, ME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Penobscot Marine Museum, Searsport, ME 04974.
