Aug 3, 1955 - Carroll Daily Times - Mrs. Clara Carver, 59, of Carroll, died at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge, where she had been a patient two weeks. She became seriously ill while visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Booth at Algona, and was taken from their home to the Fort Dodge Hospital. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St, Joseph's Church here. Requiem mass will be offered by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. P.T. Lynch. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The body may be viewed after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sharp Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Mrs. Carver, the former Clara Rettenmaier, spent most of her life in Carroll. A daughter of the late David and Mary Rettenmaier, she was born here Sept. 36, 1895. She married William Carver in 1913 at SS. Peter and Paul's Church, with the Rev. Joseph Kuemper performing the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Carver lived in Carroll until 1927 when they moved to Bellwood, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. In 1939, Mrs. Carver and family returned to Carroll, which has been her home since then. For six years, Mrs. Carver assisted with the school lunch program at St. Joseph's School and last year at Kuemper High School. Surviving are her husband, three daughters and three sons: Mrs. Hugh (Lucille) McKeever, Fort Worth, Tex,; Arthur, Wirt, Minn.; Mrs. Jack (Norma) Booth, Algona; Robert and Richard, Carroll, and Mrs. Joseph (Janet) Knobbe, Denison; four sisters, Mrs. Ann Brunet, Kenosha, Wis.; Mrs. Eva Stark, Sioux City; Mrs, Hilda Duncan, Wirt, Minn.; and Mrs. Joe (Irma) Haverman, Dedham; two brothers, Larry Rettenmaier, Carroll, and Leo Rettenmaier, Wirt, Minn., and 14 grandchildren. A son, Donald, died in infancy, and daughter, Ruth, at the age of six years. Mrs. Carver was a member of St. Joseph's Church and Immaculata Guild of the parish.
