Description : Wilgus Road, established in 1891, in Prosser, WA was named after George W. Wilgus. George and his wife had left Sioux City, Iowa for San Francisco, to Portland,OR and to Pendleton, OR looking for a place to settle. They heard that the NP (Northern Pacific) railroad was planning to build through Prosser. Deciding to stay, they homesteaded along the north side of the Yakima River just west of Prosser. Early in 1906, G. W. Wilgus was appointed Justice of the Peace serving in that position for 40 years.
