July 19, 1969 - Carroll Daily Times Herald - Mrs. Clara Lucey, 82, wife of George Lucey of Carroll, died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony's hospital, where she had been a patient the past six weeks. She had been in failing health for two years. Requiem mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, from St. Joseph's church, with the Very Rev. Leo Lenz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday, at the Sharp Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Sunday; and on Monday by the Legion of Mary at 3 p.m.; C.D. of A. at 8 p.m. and at 8:45 p.m. Mrs. Lucey was a member of the Holy Spirit parish, the Catholic Daughters of America, Legion of Mary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was born March 26, 1887 at Le Mars, the daughter of Mathias and Josephine Kemp. Her younger years were spent in Le Mars, until May 3, 1916, when she was married to George Lucey at the St. Joseph's church there. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in May, 1968. After their marriage they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, later returning to Iowa to farm in Plymouth County until 1932; then moving to Auburn where they operated a restaurant, and later, in 1938, to Carroll. She is survived by her husband, George; the following sons and daughters,: Robert E of Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Paul (Genevieve) Rausch, Lake View; Mrs. Kathleen Walden Carroll; Mrs. John (Joanne; Carlton, Balboa, Calif, and Alberta Lucey, Denver, Colo.; 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs Mae Lieb, Austin, Minn, and Mrs. Nick Goetzinger, Oyens. Preceding her in death was a daughter Rosemary in 1951 three brothers and three sisters.
