She was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Washington Township, Auglaize County, the daughter of Sophia (Vohs) and George Clausing Jr. She married Donald McDermitt May 8, 1948, and he preceded her in death Dec. 20, 1995. She is survived by three children, Kathleen (Larry) Lunz, of Uniopolis, Thomas (Pat) McDermitt, of Celina, Dave McDermitt, of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Hoffman, of Celina, Theresa (Adam) Friemoth, of Uniopolis, James McDermitt, of Celina, Edward Lunz, of Uniopolis; and a great-grandchild, Brandon Hoffman, of Celina. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marie Nuss, and an infant grandson, Todd Nolte. Clara was a 1946 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She and her late husband Don owned and operated Don's Paint and Body Repair Shop for 35 years in St. Marys. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the Women's Guild of the church, a member of the Rural Women's Club, and the Auglaize-Mercer Multiple Sclerosis Support Group. She loved cooking and doing needlework. Funeral services are scheduled at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, St. Marys. Burial is to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
