The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at United Presbyterian Church, Wessington, with the Rev. Stan Gruneich officiating. Burial will be in the Wessington Cemetery. Stan Gruneich officiating. Burial will be in the Wessington Cemetery. Clara Louise Syring was born February 21, 1896 to Frank and Louise (Hein) Syring in Belle Prairie Township, Beadle County. Her mother died February 22, 1896 and she then lived with her maternal grandmother and an aunt until she was four years old. She returned to live with her father and stepmother, Anna Krueger Syring. The family moved to a farm three miles north of Wessington and lived there until she was 9 years old, when they moved into Wessington. She attended German school at Wolsey. On February 6 she married Arthur C. Prentice and they lived on a farm southwest of Wessington until March 1974 when she moved into Wessington. She was a resident of the Prairie Good Samaritan Center, Miller, since July 1986. She was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Wessington, Circle I, Royal Neighbors of America, Sunshine Senior Center and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include five children and their spouses, Lowell and Mary Prentice, Wessington, Venda and Marvin Fritz, Sheridan, WY, Robert and Romona Prentice, Rapid City, Mrs. Lois Stobbs, Wessington, Karen and Niel Hinek, Bowman, ND; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two half brothers, Oscar and Donald Syring, California; two half sisters, Ruth Staunber, California and Ella Yuker, Aberdeen; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964; a daughter, Jean, 1983; a son-in-law, William Stobbs, 1967; a grandson-in-law, Randy Hohm, 1974; her parents, step-mother, six brothers, William, Frank, Alfred, Charlie, Ted and Melvin Syring, and five sisters, Anna Williams, Lillian Langbehn, Edna Harden, Alma Malhullen and an infant sister, Emma Syring. Pallbearers will be ty and Trent Hinek, Kerry Stobbs, Delton, Tony, Robert and Scott Prentice, and Doyl Fritz.
