Mrs. Benbow, 93, died Aug 31 at the Heart of the Valley Care Center in Corvallis. She was born Oct. 30, 1888,at Wyoming, the daughter of John and Maria Jansen Thomsen. She was raised and educated in Iowa and received her bachelor's degree with honors at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. She taught four years in the Oakland and Monticello High schools. She was married to Rev. Earl Benbow May 21, 1913. The couples' first parish was at Onslow and thereafter they served the Presbyterian parishes in Grundy Center and Sioux City. In 1930, Rev. Benbow became director of the Westminster Foundation at the University of Washington. The Benbows later served pastorates in Dallas and Anrnca, Ore. Following his retirement, they lived in Medford and Corvallis, where Mrs. Benbow lived until her death. He died Dec. 20, 1966. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Women's Society, the First United Presbyterian Church of Corvallis and the Chapter C.I. of the PEO. Survivors include one daughter, Mary B. Pavl of McMinnville, Ore.; two sons, Dr. John T. Benbow, Northport, Ala., and Robert M. Benbow of Waterville, Maine; a brother, Meinhart of Wyoming; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. August Thomson of Wyoming.
