Description	:	Clara was know as "Granny" to numerous neighborhood children. She moved to Tipton in 1906 after the death of her husband Jacob in 1905. She earned her living for her family by doing domestic chores for the families in Tipton. She was a lady of shorter stature and was adored by her children. She purchased two lots on fourth street Oak Hill addition (lots 13 and 14) on October 12th and was issued the property deed November 17th 1906 from James R Dobson and built her home there. She earned her living for her family by doing domestic chores for the families in Tipton. She was a lady of shorter stature and was adored by her children. She purchased two lots on fourth street Oak Hill addition (lots 13 and 14) on October 12th and was issued the property deed November 17th 1906 from James R Dobson and built her home there. A story passed on through family is about her frugality. She was quoted as saying, "if the grocery raised the price of eggs by a penny, then all the ladies will let the eggs rot until the price drops back to where its supposed to be." Her properties transferred to her son Morris (Bill) on 9/15/1953. Mrs. Clara Mae Stillabower, 72, died Wednesday morning at her home on North Green street, where she and a grandson, Charles Dolan, have resided together for some time. Death was caused by pneumonia. Mrs. Stillabower was born in Bartholomew county, her maiden name being Clara Mae Singer. She was married there, February 17, 1889, to Jacob Stillabower, whose death occurred more than 25 years ago. Following his death she kept her family together by her own efforts and had time to spare to others in need. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Alta Cardwell, wife of Jesse Cardwell of Alexandria; Mrs. Sina Ramsayer, wife of Carl Ramsayer of Muncie; and Morris (Bill) Stillabower, of Tipton. A daughter Mrs. Mille Stunkard, widow of Danny Stunkard, preceded her mother to the grave. She is also survived by a brother John Singer, of Bartholomew county and a half sister Mrs. Perry Gossard, of Monticello.
