Description	:	The Bonge family moved to Knox county, Nebraska, when Clara was young. They settled near Winnetoon, Nebraska. She married Howard Crandall, whose family had also moved to the Winnetoon area, September 1, 1897 at Niobrara, Nebraska. They had two children, Lorena Marie (Van Camp) and Leonard Milford. ******** On September 1, I assumed a responsibility and was married to Clara Mathilda Bonge. We arrived at Niobrara about ten a.m., left at two p.m., arrived at the farm home by Winnetoon around seven p.m.. Mother welcomed us home to a special dinner. **** My wife, Clara, has been a wonderful wife, during all the ups and downs through the past sixty years. She's good cook and economical, not wasteful in any way, with clothes or the household goods or furniture that we have had, always willing to share my trouble and has given me courage when I was in the dumps. I want all to know, she has been one hundred percent perfect and is tops in my book. We have always shared each others troubles and grief and also have shared in all the pleasure and happiness, that we have had together. If I had better words of praise at my command, they would be for her. This is exactly the way I feel and I want the world to know it. That's why I am hunting and punching this typewriter with two fingers to tell you so. I am writing this on a bright, sunny afternoon on the 28th day of September 1957. ...Howard Crandall...The Story of My Life ****** Clara Crandall, 98, Former Resident, Dies Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Phil Jundt, that Mrs. Clara Crandall, 98, of Vancouver, Wash. died July 5 at the Columbia View Rest Home in Vancouver. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Vernon Van Camp of Vancouver and two grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Howard Crandall and son, Leonard.
