Clara Mednansky was born April 20, 1916, in Hand County near St. Lawrence to Mike and Emma (Michaletz) Mednansky. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven brothers and sisters. The family moved to a homestead northeast of Philip in the spring of 1918. They also lived near Cottonwood before settling in Kadoka in 1928. Read More	Clara Pearson, 89, Madison, died June 28, 2005, at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. Clara Mednansky was born April 20, 1916, in Hand County near St. Lawrence to Mike and Emma (Michaletz) Mednansky. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven brothers and sisters. The family moved to a homestead northeast of Philip in the spring of 1918. They also lived near Cottonwood before settling in Kadoka in 1928. She graduated from Kadoka High School in 1934 and moved to Sioux Falls, where she worked a variety of jobs. She graduated from a school of practical nursing and worked in a few nursing homes. She and Ida Paulson owned a nursing home for a period of time. During World War II, she worked at the Sioux Falls air base. After the war, she worked at John Morrell and Company. She married Harold Pearson on Aug. 12, 1949, and moved to a farm northeast of Salem. Over the years, they were foster parents to 17 children. In 1996, they sold the farm and moved to Madison. She moved to Bethel Nursing Home in 2000. Her husband died on March 27, 2003. She was active at Ramsey Baptist Church, where she held a variety of positions. She was a member of the Better Living Extension Club and the Christian Temperance Guild. Survivors include a son, Daryl (Denise) of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Ila (Larry) French of Madison, and Judy Roberts of Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Boyd of Kadoka, and Gladys Lien of Volin; and four brothers, Eddie (Pat) Mednansky of Iowa Park, Texas, Ervin Mednansky of Bandera, Texas, Clarence (Mae) Mednansky of White River, and Art (Edna) Mednansky of Kadoka. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Fri., July 1, in Ramsey Baptist Church, rural Montrose, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, with the family present from 7-9 p.m., in Kinzley Funeral Home at Salem. The Kinzley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
