Clara Pauline Herpich married Earl Grimes on 18 OCT 1925 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, 20 DEC 1950, in Herington, Kansas, for Mrs. Earl Grimes (nee Clara Pauline Herpich) from Abilene, Texas, who passed away early Monday morning, 18 DEC 1950, following a car accident about 8 p.m. on Sunday evening, 17 DEC 1950. Mrs. Grimes was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Jeremiah Herpich, 606 South Broadway, in Herington, Kansas, and grew to womanhood in the Delavan community, Morris County, Kansas, and worked as a bookkeeper for the late W.T. Wilson in his grocery store before her marriage. Mrs. Grimes, who was employed by a cleaning establishment in Abilene, Texas, had been to Dallas, Texas, with her employers on a business trip and they were enroute home when the tragic accident occured. She was driving at the time and rounded a curve running directly into a truck. There were two men in the truck who were also injured. Mrs. Grimes passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Monday morning, 18 DEC 1950. The final rites were read at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, 20 DEC 1950, by Rev. W.F. Cole from Omaha, Nebraska, and Rev. R.R. Kaiser, at the First Christian Church in Herington, Kansas. Interment was at the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington with Paul Herpich, Leadore Herpich, W.C. Floyd, Donald Herpich, Dr. R.C.V. Osben, and A.J. Ferguson acting as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements were made by Donahue Funeral Home. Clara Pauline Herpich was born in Delavan, Kansas, on 18 JUN 1903, where she grew up, attended school and came to Herington, Kansas, where she was employed until her marriage to Bishop Earl Grimes at Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas, by Rev. W.F. Cole, on Sunday, 18 OCT 1925. For a time, both Clara and Earl Grimes were employed by the Ogden Cleaners before going to Abilene, Texas, ten years ago [about 1941] where they have since made there home. The deceased is survived by her husband, Earl Grimes, of Abilene, Texas; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Henry Jeremiah Herpich, from Herington, Kansas, and two brothers, R. Henry Herpich and William "Willie" G. Herpich, both from Herington, Kansas.
