On April 1, 1871 she was united in marriage to William A. H. Smith, of Wisconsin. To this union were born five children; Alice D., who died at three years of age; Lillie Castor, of Vici, Oklahoma; Mattie Cook, of Ada, Kansas; Alice White, of Salina, Kansas; and William J. Smith, of Detroit, Michigan. The Smith family moved to Kansas in 1877, where they have since resided. Mr. Smith passed away December 31, 1903, aged 54 years. On December 16, 1905, Mrs. Smith was united in marriage to Thomas Tibbits of Ada, where they have since made their home. Mrs. Tibbits accepted Christ as her Savior, and was baptized into the Ada Baptist Church March 24, 1917. She found great joy and peace in her Christian experience, and became a very regular attendant at worship. She loved the Word of God, and was a faithful reader of her Bible. Mrs. Tibbits was a faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, and a very helpful neighbor. Besides her husband and four children, she leaves two sisters, Lillie McBride of Denver, Colorado; and Hattie Wines, of Gentry, Arkansas; also 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 10 step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday morning at the Ada Baptist Church, and her body was laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Ada. Her soul is at rest with her Lord, and again we can say, "Blessed are the dead, who die in the Lord."
