Description	:	Clara S. Michels, age 89, of Faribault, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Clara was a resident at Keystone Communities of Faribault for the past five years. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral home in Faribault with Pastor Steve Delzer, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Faribault, officiating. Clara Sylvia Holum, the daughter of Knute and Minnie (Storbeck) Holum, was born on Sept. 24, 1919, in Ada, Minn. Clara graduated from Waubun High School in 1938. She was formerly married to Kenneth Engebretson and married Jerry Michels of Pelican Rapids on May 30, 1970, in Detroit Lakes, Minn. They lived in the Detroit Lakes area until retirement when she and Jerry moved to Faribault. Winters were spent at their Mission, Texas, home. Clara enjoyed ice fishing, summer fishing, was a wonderful cook, and among her many sewing and handwork talents made beautiful Hardanger embroidery. Clara was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She is survived by her son, Myron (Maureen) Engebretson of Marietta, Ga., and stepchildren, Darrel (Sandra) Michels of Owatonna, Anne (Paul) Roach-Stegmeir of Faribault, Cinda Michels of Faribault, Mark (Barb) Michels of Owatonna, Tom (Joyce) Michels of Menomonie, Wis., Robert (Glenda) Michels of Pelican Rapids, James (Melanie) Michels of Pelican Rapids and Jon (Karen) Michels of Zimmerman; by 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Edna Holum; son-in-law, James Roach; and former husband, Kenneth Engebretson.
