Read More	Mrs. Murray Is Dead: Resident Here 40 Years Funeral services for Mrs. Arnold Murray, 64, a resident of Emmetsburg for nearly 40 years, were held at St. Thomas Church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. C. F. Farelly, pastor, officiating at the Requiem High Mass. Present in the sanctuary were the Rev. Leo Reisburg, assistant pastor and Monsignor James Duhigg of Estherville. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery with the Martin Funeral Home in charge. Rosary services were held Sunday night at the funeral home. Serving as pall bearers were Carl Spies, William Degnan, Victor Hand, John Spies, David Allen and Judge Joseph P. Hand. Mrs. Murray died Saturday at her home following an illness of almost a year. She had been a patient a number of times in Rochester, Minn, but despite the best in medical care, her health continued to decline and in recent weeks she had been in critical condition. Mrs. Murray is survived by her husband, who has been co-owner of Beebe's clothing store in Emmetsburg for many years; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. A. H. Malcom, Miss Cecil Wolfe, and Frank Wolfe, all of Pocahontas, Mrs. Sidney Bondurant of Albany, N. Y., and Robert Wolfe of Trona, Calif. The daughter of John T. and Elizabeth O'Malley Wolfe, Mrs. Murray was the former Clare Wolfe, born Aug. 13, 1899, at Rolfe. She was reared in the Rolfe Pocahontas area. In 1925 she married Arnold Murray at Pocahontas, and the couple moved to Emmetsburg to make their home. Before her marriage, Mrs. Murray attended Sacred Heart School, Pocahontas, and State College of Iowa, Cedar Falls. Mrs. Murray was long active in community and church projects here. She was a member of the Emmetsburg Woman's club, the Palo Alto Hospital Auxiliary, the Women's Golf Association and several smaller groups. She was often called upon to help in various community and civic events and never failed to give her time and best efforts when called upon. A gracious hostess, she enjoyed having her many friends in her home, one of the most hospital homes in Emmetsburg. In his sermon Monday, Father Farrelly summed it up well when he said, "Mrs. Murray was a most charitable person, always helping others. She was faithful to her religion and was a frequent communicant in her faith. Many in Emmetsburg and northwest Iowa mourn her passing. [From the Emmetsburg (Iowa) Reporter, Nov. 26, 1963.
