Nun was born March 23, 1904, to Wenzel and Dena Mae Peterson Nun on a farm in Chelsea township, being the oldest of seven children. He passed away May 5, 1991, at the age of 98 years, 1 month and 12 days. He attended Dudley School District 30 through the eighth grade. Clarence was unable to attend high school due to the death of his mother when he was 14 years old. He stayed at home to help his father with the care of his younger brothers and sisters, and assist in the farming. Clarence was baptized December 18, 1927, in the Chelsea E.U.B. Church and remained a member until its closing in 1955. He then transferred his membership to the E.U.B. Church of Geneva and later to the United Methodist church. On April 28, 199, he received his 50 year pin from the United Methodist Church of Geneva. On February 25, 1933, Clarence was united in marriage to Florence Fox at Fairbury. They made their home on the Koahler farm, then moving to the Wythers farm and in 1941, they bought the sprout farm. Clarence lived all his life in Chelsea township until he retired in 1972 and moved into his new home in Geneva. Farming was his lifelong occupation and later became a hobby. After his retirement Clarence could always be seen working in his yard mowing, weeding and caring for his flowers. His greatest joy was being involved in the lives of his five grandchildren, attending their school programs, ball games and watching them at the county fair, while they showed their livestock. In 1977, he became a board member of the Chelsea Cemetery Association. Recently, he and the other board members planted numerous flowers at the cemetery so they would be ready for Memorial Day. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Velma, whom died in infancy, and Bernice Fox; and brothers, Ralph and John. He is survived by his wife, Florence; son Clarence Jr. and wife, Kathy; grandchildren Tom, Chris, Bryan, Emilye and Sarah; two sisters, Hazel Ackland and DeVee Bonner; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Geneva on Wednesday, May 8, 1991, with the Rev. Stanley Rider officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Delwin v. Myers who sang “Precious Memories” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Active pallbearers were Robert Ackland, Dennis Deepe, Deryl Fox, Clarence Peetzke Jr., Lavern F. Novak and William R. Watmore. Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Nun, Alvin Fox, Norman Girmus, Larry Elznic and Keith Nunns. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal May 16th, 1991 page 11.
