Description	:	Clarence Nuehring, age 90, of Lytton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2006, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, November 16th, at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton, Iowa, with Rev. Wayne Pfannkuch officiating. Burial will be at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15th at the funeral home in Sac City. Clarence was born October 14, 1916, on the family farm near Lytton, the son of August and Emilie (Bartels) Nuehring. He was baptized on November 22, 1916, by Pastor John Herbst at Emanuel Lutheran Church, rural Lytton. He was confirmed on July 7, 1929, at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton by Pastor R.C. Dahlke. Clarence graduated from Lytton High School in 1934 and farmed with his father until he was drafted into the Army on July 8, 1942. He completed basic training and advance schooling at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. While at Fort Sill, Clarence and Dorothea Hameister, also of Lytton, Iowa, were married at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. Clarence served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged October 21, 1945. In 1946 Clarence returned to farming. He and Dorothea made their home for more than 50 years on the farm originally purchased by Frederick Nuehring in 1882. They had two children: Lois and Alan. In 1966 Fred Scherle, Jr. returned to the United States and made his home with the Nuehrings for a year and a half. In April 2006, Clarence and Dorothea became residents of Loring Care Center in Sac City. As a member of the Lytton community, Clarence served on the Lytton Elevator and Lytton Senior Citizens boards and was active with the Lytton Museum. He was a member of the Lytton American Legion and Sac City Veterans of Foreign Wars. Clarence was also a member of the Lytton Lions Club, a former 4-H Club leader, and a member and past president of the Emanuel-St John Lutheran Church congregation. Survivors include his daughter, Lois Warme and husband Dennis of Ames, IA; son, Alan Nuehring and wife Isabel of Sac City; and three grandchildren: Eric Warme of Ames; Bryan Warme and wife Kara of Iowa City; and Kate Nuehring of Sac City. Other survivors include two sisters-in-law: Hinreka Bartels and Edna Scherle, and her husband Rev. Fred; and brother-in-law Gerhardt Hameister, all of Lytton; and many extended family members and friends. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothea on August 15, 2006; brother, George; and twin sisters: Ella and Emma Nuehring.
