Description	:	Dorothea Ida Nuehring, age 92, of Lytton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Funeral services for Dorothea will be held on Saturday, August 19th, at 3:00 p.m. at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton. Burial will be at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, August 18th at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. Dorothea was born on September 1, 1913, on the family farm south of Lytton, the daughter of Karl Christian and Katharine Emile (Fischer) Hameister. Dorothea was baptized by Rev. John Herbst as an infant and confirmed on April 10, 1927, by Rev. R. C. Dahlke. She attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Lytton High School in 1931. She earned her teaching certificate from Buena Vista College. On August 24, 1942, Dorothea was united in marriage to Clarence Nuehring at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. Two children were born to this union: Lois and Alan. In 1966 Fred Sherle, Jr. returned to the United States and made his home with Dorothea and Clarence for a year and a half. Dorothea taught country school in Wall Lake, Coon Valley, Elm Grove, and Williams Townships for 11 ½ years and later did some substitute teaching in the Lytton school. She helped Clarence on the farm, but her life centered around her family and church. She taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school for many years at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton where she was a lifetime member. She was one of the original members of the Ruth Circle and Parish Mission Board for Emanuel-St. John. Some of the many things she enjoyed through the years included: reading, tending her vegetable and flower garden, butterflies, traveling with her family, collecting antiques, and tracing family history. She was involved in establishing the Lytton Museum. Special memories were meeting her cousins from Germany and visiting ancestral sites there. Survivors include her husband, Clarence; daughter, Lois Warme and husband Dennis of Ames, IA; son, Alan Nuehring and wife Isabel of Sac City; and three grandchildren: Eric Warme of Ames; Bryan Warme and wife Kara of Iowa City; and Kate Nuehring of Sac City. Other survivors include two sisters: Hinreka Bartels and Edna Scherle, and husband Rev. Fred; and brother Gerhardt Hameister, all of Lytton; and many extended family members and friends. Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gustav Hameister. Dorothea was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all.
